Sunshine makes me happy

A new week! yay!

Well, Annie Get Your Gun is over now, finally. It was a lot of fun while it lasted, but yah, I'm ready for a break. Most of my beloved cousins went home today too, so it will be much more quiet around here. I was so busy this week that I didn't get barely any writing done, but nonetheless the book is up to 24k words plus 3 prelim ill's and a really rockin-looking map. I'm shooting for at least 60k words and maybe like...as many illustrations as I can produce. This week will be much writing and stuff.

I finally got my act together and drew up a new shadowfolk and put that up, so hopefully people will be slightly happier than they were before...ha.

I've got a lot of pictures to post, and I'll be putting those up soon (maybe). I want to show you guys where it is that I hang out in the summer so that you'll all get jealous and come visit me. Not that I'm desperate just yet for summer to come to an end, but I was thinking wistfully of Wal-mart runs with Ben and the ladies the other day. I am starting to miss everyone. I'm praying for you guys, and I hope you're all rocking your summer!

abundance of sun...

Whew, it's plenty toasty of late! Everyone stumbles around, hot and sticky. Luckily there's the lake to hop in right over there...I've been off skiing, tubing, kneeboarding and just plain swimming to get out of the heat.

I also got a role in the local performance of Annie Get Your Gun. I play "Pawnee Bill," about the fourth-down men's part in terms of lines and stage time, which suits me fine. Practice is every day for these 2 weeks, and the show'll be on the 22nd and 23rd. Getting to the practices has been a little tough with all the roadwork on the only road outta here, but you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess.

Writing has been going well, but much slower than I'd hoped--about 3-4k words per day, and I've had to take a day or two off so far. The story is coming along great, though. I feel confident that I can get this published.

Man, I'm looking out the window right now, the sun's all but blinding on the water now, burning off the fog over the lake...God's creation is so breathtaking!

Disparity

Yeah, so I left the cottage when there was no-one here, and now it's the peak of the season: the 4th of July Weekend. Yesterday was the CSA bachelors versus married men softball game, and in authentic CSA fashion, there were 30 married men and 20 bachelors slugging it out. My cousins Cody and Carson and I played...Carson was especially surprising, as he held his own with the college dudes even though he is in 7th grade...what a slugger!

We went to the Frankfort fireworks last night too. They had some sort of technical problems and started about an hour late...then, after a great show, it just sort of petered out instead of having a grand finale like usual. So that was odd. I've never seen aught like it.

The journalism thing was totally awesome. Very hard work...but the people running it, and the students taking it, were all great people. I enjoyed myself a lot and learned a lot. I learned about politics, journalism, and about people. I'm not sure journalism is a path I want to pursue, however; I loved the writing, but the reporting I just don't like very much.

Speaking of writing: I have a crazy new scheme. I have concocted an awesome new book idea, and I'm going to hunker down and write like crazy to see if I can get the whole thing done in roughly a week to ten days. Yeah. We'll see how it goes!
