Sunshine makes me happy

I've been everywhere, man...

Which isn't really true. But I have done a lot of different things. In my continuing quest to learn about different careers (though mostly to make some cash) I've been tending a bricklayer that works for my uncle. Tending means hauling bricks and mixing concrete and stuff...it's hard work. Good for my arms, mean to my back; decent money, though I have to get up by about 10 til 6 in the morning which is pretty darn early for me.

No luck on a real job so far. Michigan, I'm told, has the nation's worst job market right now, though I'm pretty sure I can land one if I keep looking. I'm still working on a few leads. I guess I just imagined that it would be easier than this...pass a few resumes around, know the right people, send in a few apps, and I'd be in for interviews in no time. Instead it's been playing phone tag and waiting for responses to applications sent in weeks ago, and that kind of deal. Bothersome.

Anyway, besides that, I've been trying to work on my book and it's not going very fast; working all day hauling stuff around makes me too tired to do much in the evenings. I did get an actual short story written the other day. I think it's pretty good, so I might try to get it published, but it's also kind of weird/maybe a bad subject, since it's about a kid who straps a bomb to himself to get money from a factory where his dad died in an industrial accident. Who knows.

That's all for now. Catch you guys later.
